How a 3D Elevation Gets Designed (Atlas Studio Walkthrough)

From the first hand-sketch to a photoreal night render — how we turn a floor plan into a 3D elevation you can actually walk through.

How a 3D Elevation Gets Designed (Atlas Studio Walkthrough)

A 3D elevation is the single highest-ROI step in the design phase. It costs a fraction of construction yet eliminates the most expensive mistakes — "this isn't what I imagined" change-orders mid-build.

Step 1 — Brief & mood

We start with a 30-minute call to capture style references — clients usually share 6–10 Pinterest images and 1–2 Instagram reels. This becomes the design vocabulary for the project.

Step 2 — 2D plan locked

We lock the floor plan first. 3D on a plan that's still changing is wasted work; we won't open SketchUp until the 2D is signed.

Step 3 — Massing & material pass

Greyscale massing model first, then materials — clay tile, laterite cladding, teak shutters, kota stone plinth. We share a draft at this stage to align on materials before lighting.

Step 4 — Lighting & camera

We render two times of day — golden-hour and a warm dusk shot with internal lights on. Most clients pick the dusk render for their WhatsApp DP within an hour of receiving it.
